2 Agencies With a Shared Mission and History
1984
Tony Black opened Black Insurance Agency in Albion, IN as a scratch Erie Insurance agency. He quickly added other insurance companies, and for the next 21 years, he built a business and a reputation based on doing what was right and in the best interests of his clients.
2000
Jarrod Ramer started Ramer Family Insurance as a scratch agency with Farmers Insurance Group in Kendallville, IN. The agency quickly gained a reputation for integrity and professionalism in the Noble County area. While growing in the personal lines and small commercial market, being limited to one carrier made it difficult.
2005
Jarrod Ramer and Heidi Ramer purchased Black Insurance Agency from Tony Black, renaming the agency Black & Ramer Insurance. The goal of both families was to maintain a consistent level of service, and being independent allowed for them to continue that mission.
2013
Jarrod Ramer and Heidi Ramer purchased a commercial lot in Kendallville, where they built Black & Ramer Insurance’s office that today acts as the agency’s home office. They slso completed a full remodel on both the interior and exterior of the Albion office.
2023
Black & Ramer Insurance became a network member of ISU, giving them the tools and markets to compete with larger national agencies, combined with the personal, family feel and attention to detail.
